Hi, I've scanned a 4 runner surf, equipped with a VE DENSO electronic diesel fuel pump. The result was a CODE 14 (ignition coil): this is a diesel engine, any ideas what the problems might be?.
Thanks in advance,
Gus (from southern Chile)

What are the symptoms leading up to you reading error code 14?

Thanks for your message. The main symptom is that running at 2000 r.p.m. it looses power and blue/grey smoke comes from the exhaust pipe. Before and after 2000 r.p.m. the engine runs OK and no smoke from the exhaust.
Thanks, Gus

The blue smoke indicates you're burning oil, but there could be more than one cause. I'd suspect either piston rings or valve stem seals. That's where I'd start.
