Locating turn signal flasher

I am going nuts trying to find my turn signal flasher on a 2001 4Runner. I also have a 01 PreRunner and found the flasher on it, but the 4Runners flasher location is really bugging me. The flasher on the backside of the fuse block is for the 4 way and not the turn signal like on my
PreRunner. I removed the kick panel and the panel under the steering wheel but cannot see another flasher anywhere! Any help would be greatly appreciated and may prevent me from going 'postal'.

I've never messed with my flashers but everything I've read on other forums says it's behind the fuse panel. Take the two screws off that hold the fuse panel on and it should be behind that. I haven't heard anyone say the 4 way or turn signal is a different flasher.

Years ago there were seperate flashers for turn and hazard. When they stopped working, after checking fuses, I bought a new switch lever but that didn't fix it. A friend mentioned the flasher. As I stated in the first post, I removed the fuse box but the only flasher I found was for the hazard 4 way and they work fine. The new signal flasher I bought doesn't look anything like the hazard flasher but does look exactly like the one in my '01 PreRunner.
