replacing timing belt - help

Anyone know how to compress that timing belt tensioner without having to remove your A/C so you can get the bolts to physically remove the tensioner?

Unbolt your A/C compressor and move it to the side, if you want use some mechanics wire to hang it from the frame. You don't have to disconnect the lines, just move the compressor. Also have a small pin and a vice handy to compress the belt tensioner and keep it in place until you need it after you get it off.

You can get to the inner bolt without removing the compressor using a 1/4" dr. wobble extension adapted to 3/8' for a breaker bar. You first have to lower the wire harness that goes under the front crank pulley and then there is just barely enough room to get the tool in there to get the bolt out. It is a tight squeeze, but I work on that stuff for a living and have never loosened, or removed the compressor to do the job.
