3rd Generation Transmission contaminated with coolant

I had an earlier post related to this and appreciate the replies.
I was just wondering how many people had this misfortune in order to find out
if flushing both systems worked and for how long. Or did the transmission have to be fixed.
From what I can find out, some say a good flush of both systems will work and others say the flushes are just a waste of time.

I guess just to recap a little. I found out that my trans. fluid was getting into my rad and mixing with the coolant. I stopped driving the vehicle right away.
I checked my trans. fluid and there is some white and red at the very bottom of the dip stick. So it appears some coolant got into the trans.
The vehicle never over heated once.

I would really appreciate some feedback from people who have gone through this and to know what they did and if it worked or not.
I'm just praying that there is some remote chance that a really good flush will save the transmission.

Thanks so much

caparks,

I think you did the right thing by parking the rig to figure out a plan. It does not sound like you drove it very long in that condition. And by not driving it for long I don't think you have done any damage. People have problems when they don't notice it until they start having problems with overheating or transmision problems. It sounds as you describe it, that the problem has been found with out incident, so my feeling is that a flush "good flush" and new radiator will fix the problem and not have any adverse affects on the running of your rig. With that said there was one idea of a external tranny cooler to eliminate that problem happening again. I would look into that. But you also have to remember that a new radiator with tranny cooler inside would last quite a long time and maybe less cost. That call is up to you. Hope this helps.
