What tires to get ?!

Ok so I need tires.....i've had the same ones since it was born - and it JUST turned 50k miles a couple weeks ago..but it's a 2002 Toy limited and it's time - so help!

Currently I have P265 / 70R16 and have been shopping for choices. I'd like to get an all season - but I do live in Snow belt and need the traction - I'm seeing low end at $142 / per tire up to $200+ per tire.

I thought I'd settled on a set that's about $146 / tire and just need input on brands and best buys from you guys - you guy are the best =)

Thanks in advance for your help!

PS I'm shopping at Dunn tire in Buffalo NY

ps ps here's a link to a search - http://dunntire.com/TireStore/?search=tires-- the General Grabber was what the guy at dunn tire recommended and i think that Dean Wildcat is good ...? 60k warranty ..;

Point me to the place if this isn't in the right forum =)

Michelin LTX tires are always rated well by the people who have had them. They are probably the most expensive tires for their type also.

I have Toyo Open Country HT tires on my 4Runner right now but I've never had them in snow so I can't say how they would do in the white stuff.

Did you want to go with a general mud and snow all season type tread or a more aggessive A/T tire?

Are you planning on buying them locally or online and having them shipped?

LauriL.

The Michelin's are the best as far as I'm concerned. That's all I run on my rigs and they perform quite well on all types of road conditions. Ice is the only exception. Cables or chains are the only thing for that. I'm sure you are quite aware of that thought.

I'd suggest visiting tirerack.com or discounttiredirect.com if not to purchase then to at least evaluate the same tires offered there as at Dunn Tire. Reason being that they post up assessments of each tire that include a rating for snow performance, ice performance, etc. Also, you can read through customer reviews. Might help you nail down which tire to buy.

Thanks

you guys rock when it comes to responding fast =)

That site discounttiresdirect.com would be great to use but the most recent review is 2007 =(

The michelins look fantastic but also have a fantastic price of $228 or so - I don't think I can - wait I know I can't afford that right now -- I've read some reviews and checked various sites / prices -

Probably going with

Sigma Mirada Crosstour SLX - 70k warranty & $146.99 each - it's a hard time of year to spend so much on tires =(

I have used Discount Tire numerous times and they are great to work with. No issues here!

Michelins can be nice but they can also be way overpriced.

If your tire is listed there the professional review will still be valid regarding snow performance, etc.

I think I'm going with the Kumho Road Venture AT

http://www.nextag.com/Kumho-Road-Ven...90/prices-html

reviews sound decent & General Grabbers are out of stock for at least 6 weeks & $228 is too much for me on the Michelins.

Thanks SO much for all the help -= you guys are the best ever!

xo

I am happy with my Michelin cross terrain. I will easily get over 50 k out of them. Got ~ 27k from crappy bridgestones...
