Another O2 sensor question

Just changed the O2 sensor in my 96 Runner. Has the 3.4 V6. The engine light came on and upstream sensor was the code. Changed it out with a Bosch OEM, the clip matched and everything. No cutting. Cleared out the computer and have driven it several hundred miles. My problem: mileage is horrible after the change. Took me 5 gallons to make a 60 mile interstate trip. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen and also a solution. Thanks in advance for any help.

kywildcat,

You should have checked here first. The Denso OEM is the only way to go. It is a little more but, very reliable. And also a straight swap with connector. You might want to consider it.

A number of aftermarket O2 sensors do not have the proper probe length (too short) to properly center the sensor in the exhaust stream..

The O2 sensor is one where it is best to go with the original equipment Toyota sensor.. Also there are two types used depending on whether the vehicle is a 48 state emissions certified or California emissions certified vehicle..
