Check your Rear Heater Lines...
Since I've purchased my 4runner I've been looking at it and quite a few others. I've noticed that a LOT of them have rear heater lines rotting out under the vehicle and not far from leaking/blowing out. My 4runner actually overheated because my lines DID rot out and ran my system low on coolant. I've capped the lines off so right now they are not running any antifreeze/coolant but soon I will want to have that heater working.
I'd suggest to everyone with an older 3rd gen to at least check thier lines. They run from a t-splice on the upper firewall down the passenger side of the frame and up into the vehicle just below the passenger front seat. I've seen most of them rotting out just behind the front wheel/tire.
At least give it a quick glance so you know you don't run the risk of overheating your 4runner.
