Help! Dead Battery + no Alarm Remote = Stuck!

Help,

I have a 1997 Toyota 4Runner 4WD with factory alarm. I do not have the alarm remote. My battery went dead. When I try to jump, the alarm goes off. In the past I needed to use the remote to turn off the alarm, but I lost the remote. Is there any way to start the vehicle and turn off the alarm without the remote?

There is no toggle switch under the dash that I can see to turn off the remote. Inserting the key into the drvers side door while the alarm goes off doesn't work. Turning the iginition key on and off 5 times while the alarm goes off didn;t work either.

Anyone have any knowlege on how I might be able to get my car out of my work parking garage before it is towed? I'm desperate!!!

Am I the only one that has had this happen to them?

Connect the battery and then turn on/off the ignition 5 times. This will reset it without a remote.

mtbh308,

Disconnect the alarm system. That seems like that might be the easier thing to do at this point.

Fixed

I hired someone to come out andndisconnect the alarm. Took about 5 minutes. Next time I have one of these, I'll make sure to have extra remotes. Thanks all.
