Rear Diff Question

I need a new rear diff housing for a '97 4Runner SR5 with rear diff lock as mine is cracked. I have been told that I need to know my gear ratio to find the correct housing. Where do I find out what the gear ration is in my rear end?

The axle code is at the bottom of the VIN plate on the doorjamb. Something like G292.
