2003 4runner limited V8- HELP

I am thinking about getting a 2003 4runner V8 Limited.

1. What are somethings I need to look out for?

2. What are the CONS about this make/model, if any.

3. A local dealer has one for $20,000 CDN. It' has 167,000 km. Is this a fair price? Remember, this is in Canada, so prices is a bit higher here.

Thanks
Stan

ToyotaToday,

I think that is about 21,000 American? If it is you can get a much newer model for that price, with lower miles.

V-8 4 runner, not much, Just ask and see if regular maintenance has been done. As for cons, It's a gas guzzler.

Cons? Some folks said there was no tranny dipstick. Other complained of driveline whine, but that was easily fixable by lubing the driveshaft zerk fittings with synthetic grease. MPG varied, but basically it only got 1mpg less than the V6 model, but the V8 had much better get up and go. As for the price, it's time to start bargaining. I wouldn't pay more than $13,000 American for a 2wd or $14,000 American for a 4wd as the miles are high.

I live in Calgary AB, and I owe an 05 4Runner Sport Edition V8 4.7. Mileage it gets is about 13-14 litres per 100km, its not that bad. I paid for mine 22500 with 99k km. It doesn't have any problems , I fixed my driveshaft problem by lubing it (I think all Toyota trucks have it), my sunroof opens only half way and the most enoying thing is drivers seat, for some reason it feels very uncomfortable. Maybe it is because its sport edition and it has some kind of sport bucket seats , but my 93 Altima is more comfortable. Otherwise its a great car (it also has stiffer suspension for the off-road and towing)

P.S. v8 engine comes with timing belt and it needs to be replaced every 120k km, v6 comes with the chain, so you save money there
