USA excessive sulfur odor TSB

long time no visit, but note TSB 0346-09 dated 9-30-09 for 07-09 4-runners, for the chavez stinking catalytics. question is: there are new part numbers for replacement cats for customers who "complain", but the original part numbers remain in use in current production and as service parts. does anyone know what is the difference here, do the replacements run hotter or what? it's probably about a $2000 warranty job and it would feel nice to "stick it to the man"! only 0.5 hrs of labor so not likely to screw much up either. plus it's the 8yr-80k emission warranty. would you guys have the work done or does it really not matter? i'm not subject to tailpipe emissions tests but the next owner might be. if the old cats are crap why are they still in use?

nim,

Maybe Toyota is making the same part with a new part number and thus people think that they are getting something new, when it is the same part with a new part number assigned?
