Squeaky Lift Gate

2003 4RUNNER
The rear lift gate has become increasinly squeaky and annoying. I had someone sit in the back and pull on the strap while I was driving and the squeak went away. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there anyway to adjust this or make the noise go away? Thank You.

Marshman,

There are two rubber cushions on the door and two on the frame (lower) each side that might be worn out. Or the electric latch is not pulling the door in far enough. There really is not much to that door. I would check those items and maybe try to adjust the latch or replace the rubber cushions.

I would just spray some WD-40 or oil the hinges unless you think it's something more complicated.
