Water pump replaced

I got my water pump changed a couple of days ago but I noticed the coolant level was about 1 inch above the Full line. I checked this when it's cold of course. I called the Toyota dealer and talked to the mechanic directly who worked on my car. He said they overfill it a bit because it's not possible to remove all the air in the system and it will need to work it's way out of the system.

Is this normally the case after a water pump is changed?

I would say yes as they don't want the rig to come back because they did not fill it up enough. As the mech said for air purging. It will not hurt anything as there is enough room in the bottle.
