clicking sound behind glove box

when I started the truck I have hear a clicking sound behind the glove box. when I turn the key to half to the right I hear a click. What could it be a bad relay, or the A/C motor?

agl5,

What seems to be the problem? Does everything still work and you just hear a loud relay or is something not working and your thinking that it might be the noise you are hearing? Too me if you are just hearing a noisy relay I would say either replace it or wait until it breaks.

When start the truck I hear clicking sound like moss code(behind the glove box), then it goes away. Also now I noticed that when I turn the key to on position I i single click(behind the glove box right side). The truck starts no problem. The last time heard the moss code sound I change the direction of the air flow it stop right away. But my main concern is the sound when i turn the key on position It is hard to change the relays on the 4 runner. The dealerr said it will cost up to $115.00-$200.00 to check the relays.

agl5,

My old saying is " if it is not broken don't fix it".

If the 2003 has the same design as the 3rd generation, the brief clicking you hear at startup is part of the diagnostics/maintenance of the ABS system.

The ECU and relays that control the running of the ABS motor, pulses the motor briefly at startup (and generates the clicking sound).. good maintenance to ensure the motor, brushes, and ABS seals aren't sitting in the same position for long periods of time, since the ABS is rarely activated..

As said above, it everything is working, don't be concerned about it.

I never heard the clicking before and now when I turn the key to "ON" position. I hear a single click right side ,behind glove box. Should I get it checked anyway?

How do you know if the Engine control module (ECM) is going bad?
