FJ Suspension for '05 -4Runner Sport

Hi!

Can someone help me out who might have done this switch. I need to know how much lift to expect when I remove the X-Reas Suspension and replace with the FJ springs (front and back) and black Tokio shocks. I have the V8 and it's 2 WD. It's my wife's daily driver and it can't raise too much or it will be bad news for me. No one wants an angry wife!

CKNSLS,

Why do you want to lift a 2wd rig?

I don't want to lift it. But the stock suspension (X-REAS) is getting old and sloppy. We all know to replace the X-REAS is cost prohibitive. The 4Runner has 82,000 miles on it.

I have purchased the FJ Suspension used. I know the FJ will lift the vehicle some, but I am trying to determine how much. That's all.
Thanks.

I have not installed mine yet. I have the Black Tokico shocks. Which shocks did you use? Do you have a V8 or V6 ? And how much lift did you get?

The 4Runer has 87,000 on the X-Reas doesn't respond well, especially when you hit a bump at high speeds. It feels like it wants to go to the side. I guess "uncontrolled" would be a good description.

Nice rig. So with the V8 - it sounds like less than an inch in back and 1 1/2" inch in the front.

I think my Son is going to help when the time comes. He has done other trucks, not 4Runners. It sounds like you install these has a hobby or do you have a shop?

here is a link that I used to do my lift as well as the other two.
http://www.toyota120.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3270

Nope, no shop here, just my garage and some tools.
Since you have the xreas suspension, don't forget, you will have to remove all of its components. Maybe look at the toytec or daystar if you want to put in a spacer upfront.

Here is another link where you can download the manuals for free on the 4runners.
*Direct FSM link removed per Forum Rules. Please refer to the rules for details, thanks.*

here is another one with the same type of T4R as you. he helped me out quite a bit.
http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-ge...ift-tires.html

as far as actaul lift gained.....i would just throw in this spacer.
http://www.toyteclifts.com/index.php...mart&Itemid=72

here is one for the lift WITH xreas.
http://www.toyota120.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3384

shop around and you might be able to find a really good deal on it.
If you are looking to just level the runner out then the toytec spacer along with the fj swap should suit you perfectly.

where in socal are you at anyways?

you also need to see what color codes are on the front springs. there is a driver spring and a pass. spring.
the drivers one is taller than the pass. spring. do you have them now or looking to get them

I have the springs and the black shocks (Tokico). It's the wife's daily drive, I don't want to "rough the ride" a whole lot. Would I be better off going with the KYB GR2 shocks vs. the FJ Tokikos?

Would like some feedback.
