I have a 2003 4-runner SR5 V-8 4x4. The tires on it now are P265-70-R16. I want to go one size larger ( was told that would work with no mods??) I would also like some new wheels. What do you guys suggest? What brand, size, spacing ect. I want it to look factory,. nothing sticking way out. The 4-runner is silver. My e-mail is rpk17@ mchsi.com. send me pics if you have them. What do you think would look good. My wife got a 2011 Camry, and I gave my 16 year old son my 1993 Toyota 4x4 Deluxe with 128,000 miles, oil changes every 2000 miles using toyota oil filter. Truck is perfect. So I got the wifes 4-runner with 78,000 miles, we bought it new in fall of 2002. I also bought my 1993 pickup new. Just a little history to let you know we are a toyota family- THANKS VERY MUCH GUYS,IM NEW TO THIS SITE,THANKS AGAIN
you will only be able to get a 265-75-16 on but will still have to trim the front fender liner. anything bigger than that and you will need atleast a spacer to go up or out.
either way, i would suggest going over to t4r.org or toyota120.com if you want some real help. i've been on here for a few days and must say, this site blows.
you had 41 lookers and no one bothers to chime in and help.
head on over and join us on the real forums

i don't think they are jerks. you might get a blunt answer but it's normally becuase allot of people as the same thing over and over without searching first. i have gotten tons of great responses from both t4r and 120.
this site on the other hand is a bit like being broke down on route 66, lots of lookers but no one stops to lend a hand.

Looker class? not hardly. I decided to come see what people were helping with or needing help over here. I will say this, if you look at the different posts and the view vs reply stats.it's pretty sad. some posts have hundreds of views but with less than 1% of people have responded. tell me that's not sad.
not trying to bust anyones bubbles but rather trying to help those who are asking for it.

You can get the later year 17" Stock tire size is 265/65/17 also some Tacomas have 17" stock wheels. Look on craigslist they pop up once in a while when people buy aftermarket wheels. For reference the 17" tires cost more.
810moto, I'll agree you are right that there will be blunt responses. When the mods start berating posters because they disagree with an opinion, then adios. They'll have the OP spending thou$and$ on wheel$, tire$, and associated lift$, etc., probably to protect their advertisers. Then they'll have the gall to advise that one can expect Toyota corporate to warranty any driveline and alignment issues that arise from said mods that stray from stock specifications.
My advice is to keep it stock unless you plan on owning it for a long time, and are willing to put up with any potential warranty issues. Those of us whose 2003 4Runners that came with 17" wheels had poor choices in replacement tires for years, and many of us wished we had 16" wheels, just for a better tire selection, and especially for the coveted Michelin LTX M/S that many of us wanted. Michelin now makes that tire available in the 17" size.
So to the OP I recommend staying stock, but if you want larger tires then be prepared to make the necessary mods to accomodate any issues that arise.
