Possibly getting a 4runner

Hey guys,

I've been looking at getting a 4runner for a couple weeks now and came across this forum. Hopin some of you wouldn't mind answering a few questions. I have an '07 Cadillac CTS right now, but I just miss having an SUV big time. I used to own 2 Ford Explorers and I think I want to go for something a little more nice and reliable than that. What are your thoughts on the best year or best gen model of the 4runner? Also I'm only looking to spend around $15,000 (possible exact swap for the my CTS). Are there any issues with the 4runners that would be helpful to look out for before I purchase one (like certain miles needs this and that)? I know when I hear the name Toyota I think 200,000 miles, I know you have to maintain it to reach that, but is that typical with the 4runners as well as, say a Camry? I love my '03. I have the 4.7L v8 auto five speed and love it. I think for the money that you want to spend/trade in that would be a nice rig for you. Oh 200,000 mi, try about 300,000-400,000mi, will make a ford look silly for reliability. Sorry about that for all you ford lovers. Well I should have looked at your link first but that would be my rig of choice. You can't go wrong. With that millage you need to know if the timing belt has been replaced. If not that would be $600-$800 discount item. Also make sure that the mirrors don,t rattle around if they do they will need to be replaced at about $250 a pop. I'm talkin about the mirror itself not the frame. Hope this helps.

I have a 2004 V-8 with 70,000 miles and so far no real noticeable problems. I love mine, except for the fact that it only gets me about 18 miles to the gallon. I would have probably opted for the V-6 back when i bought it had i known gas would get this high. Anyway, good luck in your search.

Hi guys, I recently found a 2004 4runner with 152,000 miles on it. Asking price is $9000. Any buying suggestions, anything to make sure I look for or ask about other than the timing belt or mirrors? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
