2007 4Runner SR5 Front Brake Job

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum an thought it would be best to start out with my own contribution to the community. I recorded the replacement of the front brakes in my 4th generation 4Runner last night. Currently it has ~40k on the car and this has been one damn fine car. Glad to see so many fellow fanatics! So, here'a my first video. Hopefully it is encouraging for those looking to do the work on their own cars. If so, this would be a good way to get your hands dirty.

For this job I installed wagner thermos quiet ceramics and raybestos rotors

jason16v,

Nice video, the only thing I would have done different is not put ceramic pads on. They tend to warp the discs more than the stock pads. I did the same thing on my LC and it warpped the discs within 5000 miles. I hope that will not be the case with yours.

Following a proper bed-in process should help protect against warped rotors. http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/tech/....jsp?techid=85

Ok we agree to disagree. Sorry. Live long and prosper, and I hope your disc's don't warp. Oh by the way I do understand and use a bed-in process.

Cool

Hi jetwhine

I do appreciate the feedback. I'll report back if I encounter any warping issues. Worst case scenario is down the road I end up having to additional work on the brakes again, but I don't mind putting in the wrench time. The goal of this posting is to be a DIY guide for fellow enthusiasts. If a byproduct of the posting is a product recommendation or warning so be it. I personally haven't had issues with ceramic pads on other cars, but if I do encounter issues with the setup I have I'll be sure to share!
