The idea that the trans had been swapped seemed to fit(the previous owner did a full engine/trans swap as well as many other things and screwed about 75% of it up). It should be possible to swap in a different trans with a custom conversion plate, not easy though.

Would the 3s pistons actually work? If I remember, 3s pistons are 86mm while 5s are 87(im not much on internals, most of my previous work has been full engine/trans swapping since it's usually faster and cheaper than rebuilding).

The 7th gen shifter can be swapped in, but you have to do some minor cutting to make it fit.

Not only would a water/meth kit help control knock, it also allows increased boost(cool intake charge), increases octane to something along the lines of 111, and helps remove carbon deposites.

The only real problems with leaking i have are around the oil pan gasket and distributor. My power steering doesnt leak at all, and the rear of the motor is as clean as I've ever seen.

The 3mz swap would be mean, but would also take a while considering I need to learn to weld for the mounts >_<

It seems the solution would be to drag the motor out of a 92-99 model and build it separately, buy a 3s, or just sell the thing and be done with it.

Where are you located in Indy?

As for the bore, you are correct. Stock bore 3sgte is 86mm, stock bore 5sfe is 87. You MAY be able to fit the 3sgte rods to the 5sfe pistons, but i cannot confirm that. If you could, i would go that route, as the 5sfe pistons are not the weak point of the motor. Otherwise, you can get some 87.5mm aftermarket 3sgte pistons and plop them in there, leaving enough room to make sure you get a smooth cylinder wall.

As for dragging the motor out of a rev2 car... you'll need the whole thing. Wiring harness/ecu included. The motor itself is no different other than slight cam difference and lack of knock sensor. The main difference is in tuning and ecu.

I'm 100% positive you don't have a 4afe tranny.

PM me where in Indy you are, i wouldn't mind coming out to take a look at the car and we can talk from there.
