I just purchased the 2011 sr5 with leather, and let me tell you I'm going to enjoy it,let's face it gas prices is what it is,I'm not overly concerned because my driving habits are not aggressive, and I don't drive that much come summer to work so realistically this vehicle should last me 15 years, and I will take care of it,also you live once enjoy its not that bad on fuel I get 13.2L/100km in city and 9.0L/100kms not bad.

I had a 2010 4runner SR5 rental and got over 20 mpg mixed driving. Not bad.

2011 Trail Edition. Did 19 combined on the stock tires. After changing to LT Duratracs, and driving 3 miles to work in downtown Atlanta, I am doing 15.8 by the computer, which is damn accurate to fillup gallons/miles. For comparison, that is the same, or slightly better than my 07 Taco double cab on the same diameter (but lighter) tires around town. On the highway, the 4runner beats the Taco by 2-3 MPGs.

I'm also carrying about 250 pounds of extra gear over stock.

I've found that the tire weight plays a huge factor in gas mileage. I just switched from 265/75/16s to 33x10.5s and already noticed I'm getting more miles on the tank. Even though the new tires are bigger they weigh 4 lbs less each and my new wheels are 1-2 lbs lighter. The load range of the tire makes a significant difference in the weight. I'd recommend only getting the load range required.

It's also interesting that the Duratracs even though they are not a true mud tire they get the same or worse mpg than mud tires. I've been reading many reports from other Tacoma owners about this. Interesting.
