Synthetic oil?

I'm getting rid of my 2010 Tundra DC 4x4 and have my AAA guy looking for an SR5 4Runner as we speak. Does anyone run synthetic in their 2010-2011?

Synthetic oil is required in the 2010-2011 4Runner, it uses a 0w-20 weight.

Thanks arabian. I went with a new Tacoma TRD sport instead.
I didn't see anything in owners manual about synthetic. Do you know if I can use it?
Thanks again

The 2010 and 2011 Tacoma V6 still uses 5w-30 conventional (non synthetic) oil.

I just did my first oil change on my Taco (2011) and the dealer used Mobil 1 5W30 synthetic.

You're not required to use synthetic. However, you can if you wish. Toyota calls for conventional oil, but what each dealer does may vary.

You can use whatever oil you want, synth or dino, as long as it meets the specs outlined in your manual. If you change your own oil, keep your receipts if you should have to use your warranty.

if a Toyota model comes with 0w-20 and you put in 5w-30 then it states in the manual to change the oil at 5k miles and put 0w-20 back in. i know it can run on the 5w-30, but if i remember correctly the 0w-20 has to do with emissions and gas mileage.

^He's stating to do what the manual says, not just what you feel like. If it takes 5w-30, then you can use synthetic or dino oil, but synthetic isn't required.
