Canada 2012 4Runner Rear Axle/Suspension

Good Day,

I have a question about the rear axle and suspension on the new 2012 4Runner. In the brochure it says that the rear suspension is:

"Coil Spring, Independent, 4-Link w/Lateral Rod Rear Suspension & Stabilizer Bar"

Is this in fact an independent rear axle? I was under the assumption that it was still a live axle rear end.

I'm hoping that it is still a live axle and that the brochure is just worded incorrectly.

Thanks for the input,

Bob

I noticed that wording too. I thought 4runners were live (solid) axle the same as the Tacomas. That said, my daughter and husband have a 2011 Pilot that rides very nice. I'm thinking of replacing our 2004 Tundra which has been a great vehicle with something that has better mileage and more room for grand kids. The 4runner, Pilot and Ridgeline are all on our short list.
I would like to hear the answer to your question as well. Someone out there must know!

Last model has semi-independent rear axle. Not full independent.

perhaps you meant to say semi-floating not full floating rear axle? If so than yes this is true. Pretty much the same setup as it has been for a long time.
