2011 limited buzzing sound after turned off - Toyota Nation Forum : Toyota Car and Truck Forums

Hey you guys. I've searched and search and so far no luck. My mom has a 2011 limited with 17,000 miles on it. From about day one it would be sitting in the garage for a while after a drive. I would come down to get something out of it or out of the garage and would hear a buzzing sound coming from Around the spare tire. It happens randomly and has happened I'd say 5 or 6 times since the year we have owned it. I would turn the truck back on then off and it would quite. I didn't know if anyone has had this problem or has heard of anything. If we take it back to the dealership what will they say if they can't reproduce the noise? I don't want a tech joy riding in our truck. I took a video of it on my iPhone. Is that enough proof for a tech? Would seem kinda hard to pin point but atlease show that there is something wrong.

Thanks for any input. I'm hoping the 5th gen section starts picking up. I'm use to clublexus and ls1gto being pretty active. Thanks again.

i have a 1 month old 2011 SR5

i've heard the same thing.......
turned off the truck in the garage....gone inside....few minutes had to go get something out of the truck....some sort of buzzing coming from the spare tire area.

i didn't have time to check it out in more depth but i would love to know what it was!!!

yes me too. I'm glad I am not the only one then with this problem. It doesnt seem to hurt the truck and doesn''t hurt the performance of it but it's just not right. I don't want any long term issues with it since we are planning on keeping this truck for a while. I will have to put it up on the lift to get a good look underneath of it and see any possiblities on where it is coming from. I'm not to excited about our dealerships around here. It was hard enough trying to find one that actually wanted to sell a car let alone one that will help in a problem. This goes for both toyota and lexus. I went 5 hours away to buy my lexus and suggested the parants do the same but the did not.

It is for emissions, read your manual, it is in there. The fuel pump runs every four hours I believe.

Once it is on it never goes off. My friend had this happen to her 2012 Tc rs 7.0 this morning. Same situation. I just can't see the fuel pump turning on after awhile and then never turning back off until you start the vehicle. I'll look in our owners manual tonight. Her car has 19k before she heard it. 6 months old.
