Canada glove compartment key

Just purchased a 99 Sienna and very happy with the performance and ride. Have a couple of items to fix. There was no glove compartment key supplied and its locked...a keycutter says only a dealer could help with this key. No number on the cylinder. Any ideas on how to get it open ?

The mster key for the car is the one hat opens the glove box. If you cant open it with the key you have then it must be the valet key. NOrmally the valet keys are gray if they have the plastic cover on them or are more of an oval shape if they are jsut metal. If it is a master key then the plastic will be black and the metal key will be more of a square. This is assuming the keys you ahve are the original Toyota keys. As for getting amaster key cut, you should be able to pull the drivers side interior door panel off and find the key code stamped on the door lock cylinder.
ANother thing to consider is it may be a possibility that something has been replaced as far as door cylinders, ignition tumbler or glove box door.

You can also get the VIN number off and the dealer should be able to look it up.

Thanks for that info Chris and Drunken-panda, I had a new key cut from the plain Toyota metal one that was supplied with the vehicle and it opened the compartment ??? Original was a bit worn, but as Chris says the valet key is not supposed to open the glove compartment. We won't be giving that key to any valet. Anyway, so now I have the Sienna instruction manual and inside it was the name of the original owner, a leasing company and some other ex leasee papers with the contract number. Contacted the leasing company and...yes..they have the black plastic master key and they are mailing it to me. Now that I have read the manual I understand the need for the two different keys. As a matter of interest, I once owned a 96 Plymouth Voyager and in addition to a glove compartment, there was a lockable compartment hidden under the passenger seat. A great idea for Toyota Sienna designers. Regards, Bill

yeah I wish they had that on my 02 but because of all the heating and air controls for the rear air there is not any room under the seats. IT would have been nice if they could have moved that stuff to somewhere else.
