Canada How do you work the rear vents ?

I have a 2001 CE, dont know how to work the rear vernts.
I tried putting the front control to 'REAR' position, then switch on the fan control on the rear.
I hear the fan running in the dash boards, but no air comes out of the vents for the rear seats...

Please help! let me know the sequence to follow to make these work.
Appreciate you time & Help

thanks

I have a 02 Sienna XLE so the AC heat controls are a little different probably. But I ahve noticed that the overhead vents hardly ever ahve anything blowing out of them. Almost all air forced intot he backc of the van comes from the vents and blower under the two front seats. I believe if the temperature gets to a certain point in the rear of thevan the overhead vents will ahve some air flow coming out fo them, but I think it is more effecient for the floor vents to blow.

Like I said my XLE is going to be a little bit different than your CE. Everything on my XLE is automatic. I can set the temp and jsut let it go. IF i leave it on the front controls, which I alway do, it almost always blows out of the floor vents under the seat. Even when I have the the direction set to blow out of the dash vents.

Have you looked in the owners manu al to see what it says in there about it. I dont have mine available right this minute or I would see waht it says about mine.

There is a separate fan inside the cover on the right rear quarter panel. This fan blows air to ALL the rear vents.

You should have a master switch on the front dash, this bypasses the switch in the back. If you turn on the fan in the front and it still doesn't work, check your fuses, the fuse for the rear blower may be blown.

The bump under the right front seat is the evaporator for the rear. There is no fan here.

well my wife is out in the van right now but when she gets home I will take a look at it again. Air does flow through the overhead vents but it seems like only when the A/C is on. I think all heat is blown out of the floor vents.

You need to check the tube that connects the rear fan to the rear vents. It is located inside the right rear cover. It has some push in clips that holds it in place. You will have to remove the lower wheel cover which is pretty big, it is one piece from the back of the passenger door to the back door and is just snapped into place - no screws.

The fan you hear running is inside this cover. After removing it, you will see the fan.

After removing this cover, you will then see the push in clips that is holding the top rear cover in place. There is also 1 screw at the bottom of the top cover that has to be removed.

After removing that top cover, you will see the tube that connects the fan to the top vents.

Correction, the evaporator for the rear is also located behind this cover, the rear fan blows into this evaporator which is what makes the cold air and the tube is then connected to this.

Everything you see inside this cover is what controls the air flow to the rear cabin vents.

this is how it operates only cold air comes out the upper vents and hot air comes out the lower vents from the front seats, hot air rises is the reasoning
