help: repairing sienna rear bumper

my girlfriend just crashed her sienna's rear bumper, and it left a bowl shaped hollow at the corner of the bumper ~ (its not broken)
the thing is i took the bumper off and tried to push it back to the original shape ... i thought it was easy, but guess the bumper is too HARD :x
i tried hammer ... and ... my feet ... didnt work at all !!!
any idea how to fix it ??

I don't know too much about re-shaping bumpers...
but, are you sure that there wasn't severe enough damage on the bumper that might cause it to be less effective of a shock absorber in the case of another accident. Any severe structure damage?
I guess, depending on your judgment, if the bumper looks like crap- maybe her safety might be compromised.

There was one kit I saw on a cheesy infomercial about using some kinda pressurizer to reshape the dents on fenders and what-nots.<-- that might give you an idea of what to do.

If money is no option, then maybe take it to your local body shop and have the bumper re-filled.

Best of luck.

i dont think you know what a sieena bumper is... its a hard piece of plastic, not painted (except XLE) which i doubt this is. It would not be any safetly hazard, as the bumper is fully hollow.

I dunno, keep trying to bash out the dent. I've seen a few siennas with dented bumpers on the corner. Is it that hard of plastic? I guess it is, maybe take it to a body shop and have them push it out. I dont think the bumper is gonna be perfeclty round like originally, but should look better.

I miss our Sienna.

guess there is no way i can bash out the dent

here is a pic of my camry rear bumper with a dent after the accident ~
this dent looks similar to my gf's except her dent is twice bigger than mine ~
notice the bumper is broken rite .. but my gf's sienna is not !!
and u know wat happened to my bumper ... it popped out automatically after a few days ~
maybe it's because camry's bumper is more soft and flexiable ~ i have no idea :P

I don't really have a solution for you... sorry. But I have noticed all the Siennas with dented bumpers. What's up with this? Was that bad designing on Toyota's part, too little view out the back? Or are us Sienna drivers just careless? I myself have been a victim of the dented Sienna bumber. Over the summer I backed into our neighbors boat trailer. Huge dent and it actually tore into the bumper. I've tried finding replacement bumpers, but have had little luck, as ours is an XLE, and the few I've found weren't. But if anyone knows of where I could find a silver rear bumper for a 98 Sienna, that'd be great.

Camry bumpers are nice like that. My bumper was hit, made dent the size of a cantaloupe and the next day it popped back to spec.

I was just about to suggest this, definitely give this a try. Ask around to see if anyone has a heat gun though, it would work much better than a blowdryer.

Oh yeah, if you do get a heat gun try not to melt a hole in the bumper.

yup that's wat i would do.. or look for a dent puller.. that might work too... but best bet is to just slowly hammer it out... use a brass punch cos iron ones are too hard... a brass punch and a hammer would normally be enough for u to put it back to its shape...

call me up i know u're in white rock and all but hehehe u can come to richmond once in a while!!!
