Question Sliding door would not open, please help!

Hi all,
Sliding door on my 2000 sienna would not open, would not open from inside or outside, so
it's not a child lock.
It appears that it's lock that is closed to the end of the van that is stuck.
It opens for 1/2 of the inch and that's it, but I can move it from inside and
see that it opens for about an inch at the front lock.

I did a search and found 1 topic, but no solution there...

Anybody fixed similar problem themselves?
Pics would be really nice!
Thanks!

Slinding door fix

This is an easy fix. If the door opens slightly and is catching at the rear there is a problem with the mechanism behind the interior door skin. You can access this by lifting up on the cup holder(if it is on the driver side). Once it is popped off take a phillips screwdriver and remove the screw. Next you will have to remove the inside trim skin from the door. My clild lock was on the on posistion. The door opened just enough so I could bend a wire arond the post and lift it up, It is located just above the little sticker on the edge of the door. It is helpful to get a wire (wrapped in electrical tape so you don't scratch) and bend it and pop the toggle up and take it out of the child lock posistion. Then I could open the door from the inside. It is easy to take the trim skin off with the door open. Use a wide nylon knife (the type used for smoothing wall papper) or a 6" putty knife protected with tape. The door skin pry's off very easily but go slow. Once my skin was off the cable to the rear latch had just come out of its bracket. Much the same as a brake cable on a biclye it doesnt work if the outside sheathing is not fixed. I just popped it back on and that was it. I suppect somebody slamed the door and it jumped out of its keeper. Good Luck and let me know.

menno01, thanks a lot!
Yeah, I opened the door once, applied some lubricant to rear lock and it was working for couple days, but now it's stuck again, I think I just need more lubricant, will post back when I have time to fix this for good.
