Gen1 Video System stays on when vehicle is not running

Hello,

I have a 2002 Sienna that after turning the ignition to the off position the video sytem keeps running and will continue to play video. VCR stays lit up and screen stays on. Nothing else in the vehicle seems to be on that I have noticed. Last night it apparently drained the battery dead. This is an intermitant problem, some times it stays on some times it turns off. I would appriciate any ideas as to what could be causing the problem.

Thanks

Is this an aftermarket system?

I have a problem with my headlights sometimes staying on. After monkeying around with the van trying to figure out why they sometimes stay on I realized that they like to stay on only if the van is started without opening and closing the driver's door. So, for instance, if I run out in the driveway and open the passenger door and start the van so I can take a CD out of the radio. Then I turn it off and close the passenger door the lights will stay on. Opening and closing the driver's door turns them off.

If your van has an aftermarket video system that has been hooked to this circuit it could do the same thing.

Your problem is directly related to the circuit the system is hooked to. Figuring out what circuit it gets power from and when it should be on will help you figure out your problem.

No this is not an aftermarket video system. this is a manufacturer video system. the center console is a vcr player and the screen is mounted on the roof and flips down.
