Spray cleaning the MAF

Saw on the can that CRC, a brand I like, MAF cleaner isn't to be used on some Toyota's and other cars. It also says it's not to be used on most Lexus's and I know the brands share a lot of parts.

See number 10 on this link:
http://www.crcindustries.com/faxdocs...on/st05110.pdf

Online it looks like there's something bad about using it on a Karman-Vortex MAF. This explains the two types.

I assume it's safe for a 2000 Sienna.... does it have the Karman - Vortex MAF or a different design?

Not the brightest question, I know, but surely it's better safe than sorry.

Thanks.

Are you trying to clear a MAF CEL? If not then just leave it alone. I've got 230,000 miles and never a MAF CEL. I use a reusable air filter too, which some claim will clog up MAFs and leave them dirty.

No CEL.

MAF has never been cleaned and after changing the plugs, filters (OEM air filter, not reusable) and PCV in hopes of getting some spunk and lost MPG back, that seems the next reasonable thing to attack. Planning on looking at and maybe spraying the throttle plate at the same time.

How many MPGs are you missing? Mine has been consistent throughout the time that we have had it (over 170,000 miles).

It was 14-15 around town. Just changed the plugs and other routine things and last tank was 17.5

Would like to get it back to 18-19.

My wife delivers pizzas in ours and it stays around 17. It can go up to 23 if it's purely highway.

Around town here is a seven mile trip mostly without lights down a road with speed limit of about 45. I'd expect, and had, better MPG.

Delivering pizza, that sounds more like stop and go city driving and I'd expect similar MPG to what you described.
