Lost Keys 2001 Sienna w/security system

I lost my keys for my Sienna with the fobs etc. The dealer first quoted me $175 for a new keys etc. When the car was towed there they called back and told me a refurbished computer was needed and it would be $1300. Any suggestions? I do have the credit card key to open the door but nothing else. Thanks in advance

they didn't say which one (at the time I didn't know there was more than one) A new computer was 2400+ but the refurbished one was "only 1300"!
happy 4th of July.. Plus the vehicle is several hours away from me!

Just get a replacement key. The dealer can probably do that based on you VIN. If you don't like the price, try a locksmith. I'm pretty sure the 2001 does not have a "microchip" built into the key so you should be okay.

As for the key fob, you can buy one on ebay for $20 - $30 and program it yourself. Programming requires you to insert the key, but don't start the car, lock and unlock the car, etc, then activity your new key FOB. Its easy. If you're not the "hands-on / handyman" type then prepare to pay a few hundred dollars.

The key is tied into the computer and as it turns out, Toyota is sending a new computer to be installed and then I can get keys for my car ! Yeah.. The security system doesn't allow the fix you proposed with just getting a new key and programming it yourself . Thanks anyways.

Modern cars have multiple computers. It gets worse all the time. Things like windshield wipers have worked for years with out computers. The car buying public don't realize what they are getting and how much it cost to fix all the bells & whistles when they break.
