Would an Ikea bookshelf(78x78)fit inside?

01 Sienna LE, both 2nd and 3rd row seats removed, has anybody ever
tried this?
The luggage rack isn't an option, thanks in advance.

If it's 78" square it won't fit. The van is not 78" wide on the inside. The funniest thing about putting large things is a Sienna is that bigger things will fit in them than you can actually get in them. The back door isn't as wide or tall as the space inside. The side door isn't any help in this department either.

Thanks, It wouldn't even have fit in my previous van(95 G-20).
At most either a queen sized mattress and or box spring could fit into the back if loaded
at an angle(diagonally). A queen is "60" wide.

I have been using my Sienna for small moves, Ikea pick ups and deliveries and I must admit that I am impressed with what I can fit in there.

At first I was hesitant to do any type of moves because I didn't want to "mess" up the interior, etc. Then you gave me some of your wisdom and told me that my van is 10 yrs old and it's going to need maintenance regardless.

Now I have yet to use the luggage carrier but I do have a package of
bungee cords inside my van just in case. At Ikea I see people loading
a mattress and or box spring on top of the luggage rack with twine, I don't know how secure that is,
but they pass it through the windows and and make several tight knots.

I keep ratchet straps in my van. They're just a cheap set from Wal-mart. Once you tighten them down they won't let go. There's no guess work and they work fray apart like bungees. Mattresses and sheet boards are the trickiest things to tie down because the air gets under them really good.

I was moving from one house to another and I fit the whole family's mattresses in the Sienna in one trip. Three twin mattresses, three twin box springs, and the king tied to the roof. The twins were all stacked up inside.

I was thinking about buying a set of ratchet straps with the hooks, but
I bought the bungee cords instead. Where do you hook them up to?
the frame on the bottom?

That king size mattress had to be well over 110lbs, must have needed help to raise it
up on top of your Sienna.

There is this guy in my neighborhood who drives an old Chevy G30
cargo van, he picks up used mattresses and box springs from the curb
where people throw them out. There must be a market for this.

I am amazed as to how many he can fit on top, 15 easily, of different
sizes, and he uses the ratchet straps, one end on the front bumper, the
other end on the rear bumper. He drives really slow of course, but I am sure
his cargo load is over the limit, and he maxes out his tire pressure.
