I was replacing the alternator in my wife's car. Finished up and realized I forgot to remove a clip from the stock alternator that holds the alternator cables to the body. Probably not even necessary, but long story short (pun intended) I touched on of the wires to the alternator and it sparked. Obviously I had already re-connected the battery. What can I say, I'm a DA and it was around midnight.
Now we have no dash lights, no AC, no turn signals, no radio, no clock. I checked the 140 A alternator fuse and it's blown. I hope that's the only problem. I've heard it's bolted in and I'm going to have to remove the box or a portion of it to access the 8mm and 10 mm bolts. Looks like the section with the three fuses should just pop out, but before I mess something else up, hoping for a little advice from someone who's actually done it.
Thanks in advance for any advice. We only have one car and three kids, so I need to get this working ASAP.
