Factory Brake Pad Shim Kit
I'm going to install a set of pads on a 2001 and this set came with a shim kit. Usually, I just reuse the old ones, but I'm planing on using new. This kit has a plastic film on both sides of the shims. I cannot determine if it is there to keep them from getting scratched or if the film is part of the shim that should be left on. To be clear, the film is on both sides of the shim and if I left it on, there would be a film layer between the pad and the shim (which I could see for anti squeal purposes) and then another layer between the shim an the piston, which I don't understand.
If anyone knows the answer as to whether to peel the plastic off or not, please let me know.
