Sell the Sienna?

Hey guys, my family currently owns a 2000 Toyota Sienna LE and we were thinking of trading it for a newer used car. The van has about 132k miles, and we owned it since new, but the van recently is having some issues that exceeds the value of the van. We are also questioning the safety of the van since the van will start shaking at around 70 mph on the highway (doesn't inspire much confidence, and the tires are brand new). Is there anything else in the future that would need to be changed that we should look out for if we decide to keep the van? And what would be a good price for a van in this condition (If I had to rate the van 1-5, it would be about a 2.5-3).

The main issue is a problem with the muffler or cat, one of the two which would cost around the value of the car to fix.

Monroe makes what's supposed to be a good aftermarket - has a decent warranty too- and that will cost a lot less than OEM.

Have you had the front end aligned or looked at? Was the problem there before tires were replaced, maybe bad tire etc. All cars need maintenance. I'd run it longer.

You'll read here that a lot of that year Sienna make it well over 200k, some over 300k. The only expensive maintenance item is the timing belt/water pump and that ranges a lot. Find a knowledgeable local place and save a bundle on that, too. Repairs tend to be the same for all of them, the rear gate latch and some plastic trim fail.

I think our most expensive fix so far was the transmission at 75,000 miles

Other than that

Our sliding door sticks a lot during the summer (really hot days), and it won't open or close (when it is opened)

And I believe we got the alignment done when we got the tires done if I remember correctly but I think we'll get it checked out again

Did you change transmission fluid when required? Have read some break, and some go forever. Wouldn't hurt to occasionally change it, although confession we never have.

Ever clean the gasket of food debris and other grub? Silicone spray also works wonders. It's simply sticking in the heat and the pull from the handle doesn't overcome it. Never force it!

If the car won't go straight, based on what you wrote, I'd have them rotate the tires and see if problem persists. Radial tires have been known to have defects that get by the balancing machines. Explore google keyword "radial pull"
