USA 2002 Sienna VIdeo player

Ok I just purchased a 02 Sienna with 29k miles on it from the used car dealer I work for. My wife will be driving it most of the time and so far she loves it. I have a question though. The van has no owners manual so I have to order one. I have a question about the video system in it. I am assuming it is a factory installed system. I would like to know if there is anyway to play the audio from the video through the stereo system. I know on some of the GM and Chrysler vans it will play through either the headsets or the car stereo. Also I was wondering if anyone has ever installed a piggy back DVD player. I would like to keep the VCR and also have a DVD player. Just wondering if anyone has suggestions about products, installation etc. Any help appreciated. BTW love the van and traded in a 97 Corolla with 176K miles, we put all but about 15 miles of that on it., never had any problems. Great car but not kid friendly.

I'm not familiar with the OEM Toyota video system. If the video/audio output RCA type, you might be able to use FM stereo modulator. To have a two-source system, you need an a/v controller.

This is what I installed on my 1998 Sienna XLE: Two 7" Vizualogic headrest monitors
It comes with A/V control module with 2 in - 2 out video inputs so I was able to add the VCP with TV tuner.

To see the installed product, click the Mods and upgrades link on my signature.

Looks like the 2000-2002 Toyota Sienna OEM video systems were made Rosen Entertainment Systems as shown from this: Rosen_Service_Support_OEM page

Check the model number of the unit and might be able to download the manual from here:
Rosen Owners Manuals

Good luck.

Hey, I am late reading these posts, but I found them because of my own searches for exactly the same difficulties you are having. I actually bought my 2002 Sienna last year. It has the VCP/VCR installed. After playing with it, I finally figured out how to get the sound to play through the stereo. However, I plugged my portable DVD player into the aux input and set the VCP to AUX. It seems to be trying to show the images from the DVD player, but it never does and then I get a message, "Aux idle." I don't have a manual for the VCP and there is no info in the regular manual. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on what I might try? Thanks for your help.

If it is the factory VCP there is a switch in the righthand corner of the screen mount when you drop the screen. It has three setting. one is OFf I think, the others are 1 and 2 if I rememebr right. in the off position the sound will only come through the headphones. In position one it will lay on 88.7FM and on 2 it will play on 89.1FM. THose are the frequencies I use anyway. GIve that a try and see how it works.

if you are sitting in the second row seat behind the passenger it is in the corner. It is recessed into the player when you lower the screen. It looks like a switch you would find on a battery operated toy. It blends in very well with the rest of the player and is not easy to see.
THere are 4 or 6 screws that hold the screen to the roof and it is located next to one of those screws if I rememebr right. Mine is not here right now so I cant go look at it to make sure.
