Timing belt. Recommended mileage to replace is 90,000. I had mine replaced at 75,000 miles and the dealer service department charged me $279.95. Water pump and belt tensioners must be checked and replaced if needed.

Siennasc98 did you have a hard time installing the supercharger or did it just go right in with no problems?

If you bought the Sienna S/C kit, no problems as long as you strictly follow the installation manual. You have to take the time reading the whole manual, familiarize which parts to remove and to keep for re-using.
I took me about 4-hour including the EBC (electronic boost control) kit that you have to tap with the ECM wires. The hard part IMO, are the removal of the intake stays (two brackets) since they are hard to reach plus you can see what are doing and the re-routing of the engine harness which have to be secured away from the S/C pulley. I did not like the way the book recommends where to tie it down so it took me awhile to insulate and safely tuck it away.

Ok Back to the original discussion, The 1998 Sienna does have a timing belt it is recommended to be changed at you 160,000km Service, so is due at anypoint now. Cost is aprox. $369 plus taxes but may vary between dealers by a small amount.
