00 sienna-car shuts off when turning steering wheel

I recently had this problem in which i turn on the vehicle the car starts to idle and surge at around 500-800rpm. As you step on the gas it starts to idle at around 1000rpm. All you can do is drive the car completely forward and backwards. If you even slightly turn the steering wheel the car shuts off. The car has a CEL on but I dont know how to check it to see what code it is throwing. Can someone tell me how i can check it or know what could be the possible problem with the vehicle.

Does the engine die or stall out.

difference from dying out and stalling? the rpms juss go down and it shuts off. I'm thinking its the idle speed control but im not positivie.

Dying would be just shutting off like turing the key. Stalling would be the rpms goes down and it kinda suptters out. So if you keep the idle at 1000 RPMS and turn the wheel what happens (step on the gas a little and turn the wheel).

What happens if you straighten the wheel before the engine dies (turn the wheel until the rpms start to drop then straighten the wheel).

So the RPM drops are gradual, they just drop like you turned off they key?

Could be as simple as a loose wire or bad ground in the steering coloum. Or it could be a even simplier as a vaccum leak.
