2007 Sienna running Rough

my 2007 Sienna (13k miles) had the CEL, , TSC lights on and was running rough. Not firing on all 6 cylinders. Dealer said problem with engine harness. Fixed. Ran fine for a few weeks. Car sat for month. Same problem again. Dealer says mouse ate through wiring harness. Anyone else have this problem. Dealer suggests costs to be $1000+. Any thoughts. Thanks

Certainly a possibility, I've seen that plenty of times before in vehicles that have sat around. Ask for them to show you exactly where the damage is to confirm just to be sure. I usually had customers call their insurance companies to file a claim because of the expense.

They can cause a lot of damage, but if the chewed up area consists of a few wires then just those wires can be repaired. The dealer wont typically do this type of repair but another shop should be able to. As QS said, have them show you the damaged area. Ive never seen one that was bad enough that the entire harness would need to be replaced.

Yeah, Shawn has a good point there. Dealers will often not perform extensive repairs compared to indies. Since they are an extension of the corp., Toyota would rather have entire parts replaced as this equals parts sales and makes it easier to apply a warranty to the repair.
Either way, it depends on the extent of the damage.
