2007 XLE Power Rear Door problem

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows of a feature that will change the functions of the power rear door. We just bought our van (used), and for some reason the "assisted close" or the push button close of the rear door doesn't work. Before you could just barely try to close it or simply press the button and it would beep and close. Now nothing.... The weird part is, the automatic open part works, (beeps and all). I read in the manual that you can "contact your Toyota dealer" to change the functions of the door... I wanted to know if anyone here knows before I do that, as I just despise dealers.

My guess is one of the jam protection strips along the gate sides is shorted. The scanner can be hooked-up and quickly figured out. Dealers are people too.

Thanks for the tip 05DCLB. I'll check it out next time it quits working. I never thought to look for that. (I has magically been working for a few days now)

Oh, and I'll have to disagree with you, dealers aren't people I suppose it all depends on our experience with dealers as to our opinions of them. My last attempt at service from a dealer was BMW, wanting $600 dollars to replace my radiator. I bought one from ebay at $75 and spent all of 30 minutes putting it in. Oh, and my last time to go to one, I was looking to buy a new Sienna. I went to the Toyota dealer, and they only had 3 vans there. I didn't see exactly what I wanted, and told them I would just look at the other dealers in the area. The salesman started YELLING at me that it would be a waste of time, and that I should go inside and order one. Not a very effective sales tactic... I ended up buying a slightly used Sienna from Hertz Car sales. They have been a great experience.
