04 sienna a/c problem

I post a thread about the A/c is blowing warm and not cold air. And not much reply here.
Search other site, some say is the unit have problem and toyota did not issue a recall.

wonder how many people here own a 2004 Sienna and have the same problem with the A/C.

If we have a strong case if the a/c unit is defact. Should wr press Toyota for a recall ?

Thanks !

Find the dryer/receiver and determine if it has a sight glass on top. If so you can absorb the Freon inside the system. Look for bubbles (or no Freon) in the glass when the compressor is working.

Also determine if the compressor is working and turning on and off.

I bring the Van to some place to check ( that I trust) the a/c is o,k but it blowing cold/cool air on the right side (passange side) but the left driver side the air is warm.

Drove the van over 25 mins at 18C with a/c on max not cold at all just strong cool air.

No water on ground. Test it again at 6:00 pm cool air. Try that again at 11:00 pm The right is cold and left is warm.

Humm ! Same vent just don't know why. Search the google and found out more scary about the a/c for sienna 04 that worry me a bit.

Thanks ! for the reply. I will check it tomorrow and see.

Lucky...

Be grateful your compressor hasn't imploded yet. Many Sienna owners simply hear a loud noise from the a/c, then get told by the dealer that their compressor has blown and thrown metal shards throughout the system, requiring $3-$4000 worth of servicing.

Toyota has yet to own up to this defect.
