In the next couple of months I will need to replace the timing belt in my 2005 Sienna. I have done routine maintennace on the car in the past, but the timing belt looks beyond my abilities. What is a reasonable price to expect for replacement of the belt and water pump? I will call around to some local dealers and a few repair shops to get some quotes. I figured to have the water pump replaced in addition to the timing belt while the car was in the shop.
I am lining up to do the same service on my 2006 Sienna. I am also having them replace the accessory drive belts at the same time, and 2 dealerships in my area have quoted me approximately $700 to do this work. They indicated that if the oil seals are leaking when they get in there (camshaft, crankshaft), it will be an additional $180 to replace them. The oil seals probably won't be an issue on this first timing belt replacement, but might be at the second one due around 180,000 miles.
$700 sounds about the going dealer rate. I'll be having mine done on my 04 soon. I also hear that motor mount stud(s) could break on Siennas when they do the Tbelt as those have to be at least loosened if not removed..so that could add a few $$ if that happens.
I just did a 05 sienna timing belt. Not bad at all really. As far as that engine mount studs, you only have to take those out if you're doing the waterpump, if the torx head snaps off/rounds off then youll have to use a stud remover. otherwise you can just jack the engine up far enough to move that mount out of your way.
Finally had mine done at local dealer so thought I'd report back for posterity. Had them do T-belt, water pump, and the two belts for altern/steering. $817 parts and labor for all the above. No problems along the way. Motor mount studs were fine...as were seals, and everything else.
Did this a tad early in terms of miles...75K...but its almost 7 yrs old...and I'll own it another handful of yrs...but won't be owning it long enough for another timing belt job....so better to do sooner than later in my case.
I just had my 2004 done last week at 86K miles at my local Toyota dealer. Timing belt, water pump, new alternator and vane pump belts, engine mount bracket with hardware, and coolant for $746 ($334 was the labor portion).
I got the quote over the phone first. Don't know if that helped the price or not!

Hi! Thanks for good info, How to jack up engine, books says not from oil pane. The one of the mount bolt is hiding behind the mounting stay, how to reach it? Sorry to ask you one more question. I see your post and I need help on 3MZFE 2004 Sienna Timing Belt change: How to remove the Engine Moving Control Rod (assembly), Engine Mounting Stay and Engine Mounting Bracket for timing belt change? My Engine Moving Control Rod (boot removed) has two bolts next to timing belt cover can’t be removed. I tried breaker bar, impact wrench and I am afraid I almost break bolts (can twist 15 degree but not anymore). Are they long bolts anchor all the way to Engine Mounting Bracket? Reverse threaded? Any experience how to remove? Really appreciate for your response. Thank you Lucas I put two pictures on google Picasa album to show the problem: https://picasaweb.google.com/1007947.../CarFixPhotos#
if you live in Southern California, Crown Toyota is running a special on timing belt for $250 plus tax (belt included). I got mine done yesterday along with both the serpentine belts for $291 out the door. I could not believe it. Everywhere else I called averaged from $600 to $800

That is insane if true. I'd have to call BS on this one though....as they'd be LOSING several hundred dollars ....AT LEAST....with every timing belt done. Unless of course they are using illegal immigrant labor...at like $10 an hour.. If it IS true....If I still lived in the area I'd get it done even if my Sienna were tens of thousands of miles away from being due.
FWIW...here are there advertised specials...not mentioned...doesn't mean it ain't real though...

It didn't happen without a pic or scan of the receipt.
