I just purchased a used 2005 Sienna LE.
At 2000 to 2500 RPMs it has an uncharacteristic throaty sound - kind of race car-ish.
It is very different than the other 2005's I have test driven.
I found a thread here implicating the Auxilary Air Intake (
http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/ar.../t-223870.html).
Under the hood it looks like the battery was replaced and then there is a mount on the air intake scoop that is floating.
When I wiggle the scoop, the connections to the rest of the intake flex significantly - leaving a 1/4" gap in the molded sections. The air cleaner assembly moves quite a bit too.
I have attached photos and I'm wondering if anyone can verify whether my assembly differs from a stock assembly?
Also - has anyone correlated this specific problem with this assembly being loose fitting?
Missing mount location? : {IMG]http://i874.photobucket.com/albums/ab303/AuctionsAndSales/IMG_1794.jpg[/IMG]
Hose gap when pressing down (as if mounted better):
Hose gap when pulling up:
I wouldn't be overly concerned about the gap size if everything was bolted into place - but it is quite flexible.
I downloaded the maintenance manual and cannot for the life of me find a simple picture of how this hose / scoop should be mounted - it generally seems to deal with the isolated assemblies. But I do have the HTML/PDF manual if someone can steer me to the correct location in it.
Thanks.
