Maintenance Required Light Re-set?

This post is similar but different that the one below. Just changed the oil on my wife's 2006 Sienna and I wonder if anyone can refresh my memory on the proper procedure for resetting the "Maintenance Required" light using the 9V accessory plug in gadget.

I forget if I am supposed to disconnect the battery first or turn the key to the accessory position with the 9V gadget plugged in. Let me know.

Thanx!

The method for my 2004 Toyota is:
1. Turn the ignition key to OFF with the odometer(not trip odometers) showing.
2. Turn ignition key to ON while pushing in the trip odometer reset button. After about 5 secs, the reading will be zero and then the light will go off.

This procedure is in the Owner's Manual.

Typesix, you are stating that I don't even need the 9 volt gadget to reset?
Are the model year's different with this procedure? (i.e. 2004 vs 2006)

No need for memory battery gadget. Read your owner's manual to find out, I don't have a 2006 Toyota.

Right. The purpose of the 9-volt gadget you're referring to is solely to preserve system memory(s) when the main battery is removed or replaced. (You can achieve the same thing, if you're careful, by attaching a car charger to the battery cables before you disconnect them, to keep 12-14 volts in the system while the battery's out.) That memory-keeper gadget has no role in the interval-reset procedure.

Nope. 2005 is the same. (To be specific, I believe this reset procedure clears several memories in sequence, depending on how long you leave the button depressed. The oil-change interval reset is the first to occur. You can see a little visual countdown in the odometer while this is proceeding. The manual should have further details on this; I confess I haven't looked at that section for a while.)
