Dealer recommended power steering flush on 09 with 55000km

Hi everyone. Just thought I'd post this.

There is a new dealer near us called Stouffville Toyota. It's beautifully decorated with a playroom for the kids etc. and the service is super friendly.

Anyway twice now I have been in for free oil changes (under ECP) with our 09 Sienna. And both times the service advisor has recommended that we flush the power steering system for around $100.

Told them sorry I've never changed power steering fluid on any car I've ever owned... and I'm certainly not doing it on a 2-year old leased Toyota with 55000km. If something goes wrong they can fix it for free under my ECP! Not to mention I checked with the sales manager at the dealer where I got the van and he said there is nothing in the service schedule that says this is required maintenance.

I don't know how many people fall for this scam. It's really too bad that Toyota and whoever owns this dealer invested so much money in a nice place, only to have it marred by such obvious ripoffs. I'm not going back and I've told at least a dozen people in town already. Plus now I've posted it here!

Most newer cars require so little maintenance that the greedy dealers make up crap to chissel us out of money, I feel sorry for the people (mostly women) who are not mechanically inclined and rely on the advise of these crooks..
