Power outlet damaged

One of my 08 Sienna power outlets just came unstuck out of the panel. The barrel comes out but the wiring is still intact as in the photos below. Can someone please suggest how to fix this?

How about a couple of well placed drops of either instant glue or epoxy, just use enough to hold in place but not so much that you can't remove it if necessary with a flexible wire saw around the base.

Mine did the exact same thing recently.....my fix.....I wrapped a layer of duct tape around the lighter socket, and pushed it back into the dash.....it holds tight, and I can pull it out in the future if I wish. The stealer wanted $40+ for this part!

I just bought a 2007 from an Acura dealer. They are ordering me the plastic part which I will replace myself. I know the other one seems like it could let go. I'm assuming this is a common weak part.

johnjan,

At least yours still have the covers. The 2008 we bought in June was missing the covers on the front ones (the capture loops were broken off of the sockets, and I later found one of the covers under the driver's seat), and my wife broke the cover off of the rear one. I assume you have to buy the whole socket assembly to replace the covers.

I checked up on these, and it looks like you can buy the barrel that has the black ring and the cover (85535-AE010), for under $10 (online). There's also one like it for the rear one, in Stone or Taupe (base p/n is the same, 85535-AE010, but with a color code, either -B0, -C0, or -E0, don't remember which is for which color) to match your interior.

I applied krazy glue and the socket is now fine (well stuck in the hole) but it was stupid of me to forget the mini glove box below. The krazy glue drops dripped into this box and now this is stuck. I tried making it come unstuck with 100% acetone (as a result of a google search) but acetone somehow eats into plastic and hence am planning to do further research.

Does anyone have any ideas?
