Just a question: my 3.5L V6 engine takes about 6 liters; my older Sienna with 3.0V6 about 4.5. Not sure what engine you have on the 2010 that needs only 4.5L
Anyway, if in fact you had double the quantity, I am very surprised nobody noticed it; issues range from blowing smoke, enginer shaking/not running right; to blowing seals; all the way to hydrolocking.
So, if you did not notice anything, I would assume that you needed 6l and the 9 was just short of any damage.... only time will tell.
It would be hard to prove that somebody made that mistake and that it caused actual damage ...
