Too much oil!

When I brought in my 2010 Sienna because of maintenance required light came on, I told them to change the oil as that is what is generally required. They discovered that it had 9 litres of oil instead of 4,5 litres. Obviously, when I has brought it in to Canadian Tire they had just added more oil and had not drained it first. This lasted about 6 weeks. There appears to be no damage. Is there anything likely to have been damaged or suffered premature wear that may only show up later?

Just a question: my 3.5L V6 engine takes about 6 liters; my older Sienna with 3.0V6 about 4.5. Not sure what engine you have on the 2010 that needs only 4.5L

Anyway, if in fact you had double the quantity, I am very surprised nobody noticed it; issues range from blowing smoke, enginer shaking/not running right; to blowing seals; all the way to hydrolocking.

So, if you did not notice anything, I would assume that you needed 6l and the 9 was just short of any damage.... only time will tell.

It would be hard to prove that somebody made that mistake and that it caused actual damage ...

Still, happy driving along, and keep an eye on that oil level
