Here is what I found out: "The fuel filter is integral to the fuel pump assembly in the tank, and is good for the life of the pump. Here's the best tip concerning the pump you'll ever get--The fuel pump is submerged in fuel, which keeps it cool . Allowing the fuel level to drop below the 1/4 mark exposes the fuel pump to air, and it gets hot. A hot pump, over time, will not last as long as a pump that has been kept cool in its lifetime. TRAIN YOURSELF TO NEVER LET THE FUEL LEVEL DROP BELOW 1/4 TANK and you'll never have to replace that $600 fuel pump because of overheating."
