Cant change auto door locks

I followed the owner's manual of my 2007 Sienna LE to change the way how the door lock operate when I shift to/from Park, but it doesn't work.

I just don't want the doors to lock when I shift out of Park and unlock when I shift back to Park. I want the other way that the doors are locked when the vehicle reaches certain speed and unlocked after I remove the key.

The owner's manual describes about turn key to ON, put the gear to N (neutral), press the lock button for 5 seconds then the door will lock or unlock. This doesn't work for me.

Any ideas?

I found the answer. Below is the critical key info just in case someone needs to do this too:

- press on the button as soon as you here the first chime and release the button just before the fifth chime ends.

Thanks for your posts, would you happenn to know how to totally disble the auto lock feature ansd possiblt the power door options. I just purchased a 2008 sienna le and it's driving me crazy. I hate it when the car thinks for me.

If you want to cancel the particular auto lock mode, as described in the manual you just repeat the same steps for that mode and that will cancel it.

For me, I cancelled auto lock completely. I just manually lock all doors if I drive late at night in a rough neighbourhood.
