How to replace ECM/ECU??

Does anybody know where I can find instructions on how to replace the ECM/ECU on a 2004 Sienna? The mechanic wants 1600.00 to do it. Thanks!

You can probably find one online for a couple hundred. They are pretty easy I believe I cant remember off this year. It's right behind your glove box.

Step 1: Remove your glovebox by squeezing the 2 sides in and pulling down and also remove the little stopper on the right side of the glovebox.

Step 2: The ECM is a big Grey Square. Unplug all the connectors on the ECM, there is 4 I believe (You just squeeze the tab and pull)

Step 3: Once out, you will see 2 screws. Remove the screws and then on the right side you will see a plastic tab holding a wire harness. Stick a flat blade screwdriver and pry out till the tab pops out.

Step 4: Grab the ECM push back then lower and back towards you and then it's removed.

Step 5. Install is reverse of removal.

Step 6: Take it to the dealer and have them reprogram your VIN into the NEW ECU. Without doing this your ECU won't set off the right information.
