Washed car, now both side electric doors don't work

2004 XLE

Actually this happened about 3 months ago. I hand washed the car, and when I was done neither of the side electric doors opened or closed. Fuses ok. About 2-3 days later they started working again.

About 2 weeks ago I washed again and the same thing happened, but this time they did not come back to life. Fuses ok.

Can anyone suggest diagnostic procedures on these things? There is no click or noise, and none of the 4 ways to activate the doors does anything. I should also mention that this thing made it through the rainy winters of the Bay Area, and multiple automatic car washes with no problem. The weather since the last car wash has been dry. Weird, huh? BTW, electric rear hatch works fine.

Is the button for the doors pushed to off (lower left hand side of dash where you knees are)?

Nope. That was the first thing I checked.

Sorry, I just had to ask. Not sure what it could be. You might have more answers over at siennachat.com. The problem though is that it might take a bit to get signed up.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a period of time (maybe 5 or 10 minutes) and then re-connecting it? A friend of mine at work had a Toyota Highlander that didn't have a working power rear hatch. He disconnected the battery, which reset some part of the door logic (there were no codes), and it's worked fine since.

These modern cars have so many lines of software code that occasionally odd things pop up for seemingly unrelated reasons. But, you could be doing something that the software doesn't expect and then things don't work.

Just a thought. It's easy to do as long as you don't mind resetting the radio.
